Happy Thanksgiving!!

Lovely day for thanks giving in Apex today! Moe, Hank and I took a long walk to a nearby lake and fields; lots of running and romping, at least by Moe and Hank. Once a hawk swooped down at Hank!

DofC confessed that he's wanted to seek the comfort of me and my bed lately. I'm understanding but staying my distance for a while. His wife is near death and he's having a tough time with all that comes with that; the emotion, the duties, the moods, etc. I made it very clear to him that I can offer comfort of a friend and nothing more.

K is out of town doing his family thing. I'm on call at the hospital, so am staying close to home. K and I hope to get together over the weekend. I really like K! I, of course, instead of reveling in joy of intimacy with a good man....marble in too much worry of the future, negative thoughts that 'it can't be real' or 'he must have some motive'....lots of conversations with myself about this crap!

B has fallen off the face of the earth; guess that's for the best.

Off to do a little house cleaning.

Finally Friday!

It's been a fairly kind week as those things go. Backgammon and coffee with W on Tuesday was pleasant. I doubt we'll necessarily seek each other out again, but we did find lots in common and to discuss as we played.

K had travel plans fall through so he and I are getting together this evening for wine and dinner. I'm looking forward to it!

DofC continues to have a rough time dealing with his wife's illness. He's refusing my help as he doesn't want to explain to the wife that he and I were once together. And, of course, I understand; although, she has nothing to fear from me.....been there and done that, if you know what I mean.

Need to begin work on that damned Christmas list! I can't believe Thanksgiving is already upon us/me!

Catch Up....

Sunday's dinner with B was terrific! He's from New Mexico and prepared enchiladas that were incredible. Black beans and spiced rice along side. Table with a vase full of gorgeous red roses...nice wine and candlelight. It was perfect! Among other things in the evening, we watched a Denzel Washington movie, Inside Man I believe it was. His theater room is amazing. This huge screen with a pull curtain in front, amazing sound and these oh-so-comfortable leather recliners and loveseat. Quite luxurious.

Email from K as he travels....we'll get together after Thanksgiving for a dinner at Azitra; Indian food.

Email from W; we're getting together tomorrow for drinks and backgammon. Probably gonna get my butt kicked. Seems very nice and a little different.

Call from DofC over the weekend. That's cool as his wife has terminal cancer and I'd told him to let me know if he needed anything. Still kind of took me off-guard. Anyway, we talked a bit; no problem. Today, he calls mid-morning wanting to meet for lunch. Not really wanting to but not wishing to renege on my offer of 'someone to talk to', I went. I guess it went well; not too uncomfortable. Weird, but I feel like he's up to something!

I should not be awake now...

Pleasant Saturday. Didn't go to the surprise party of my coworker; just in the mood to be at home. A fairly common decision for me...

Watched UNC lose in the NCSU football game. Basketball is coming soon!

Getting very nice emails from W in Durham. We're hoping to get together for a backgammon game next week.

K and I plan to visit Azitra, an Indian restaurant in North Raleigh, when he's back in town and Thanksgiving is past. He's in New Orleans then Ireland then Denmark over the next weeks.

B and I will be having a nice visit later this Sunday evening. He's cooking and we'll watch a movie in his home theater room he built! It's really nice: projection, acoustic board things (?) on walls, great sound, comfy leather seating. I'm sure it'll be a nice evening.

Listened to Arcade Fire a lot today. Very creative; great sound.

End of work week is near.

Ahhh....almost Friday! Been a pretty good week, but I've been restless at work; just itching to get out into the fall air.

Patrick, my older son, planted my redbud tree today! What a job that had to be with all the roots in my ground. It looks great. Finished off with mulch in the area.

Lovely evening with B last evening. B is an older gentleman whose into class 5 kayaking and marathons (what a contrast to my activity level). We're seeing each other Sunday as well. Planning to go to the drumming session at the NC Museum of History; a NC based Japanese drumming group. Then who knows; I enjoy his company!

I have a party to attend on Saturday evening. Given by a coworker's wife; he'll be all of 30.

Cultivating Sunday...

Another low-key day for me! And no thought of tomorrow being Monday until just now!

Went to the flea market at the NC State Fairgrounds for a few hours. I just enjoy walking around there people and pet watching as much as shopping. But I did pick up several nice wrought iron doo-dads; most will go in the garden and are celestial in theme.

Then went to Fairview Nursery. They've redone their grounds and buildings; very nice! Bought a redbud tree and several perennials to add to my garden.

Off to Monday.....

Just Barely Sunday...

A fairly quiet day, but okay....

Went to a local sports bar with some folks from work to watch some football. Pretty low-key, but fun. Took a long walk with Moe and Hank; went a night during the nice coolness.

More of a pensive day....listened to some great music: Iris Dement, Steve Earle.
